Best Birthday ever. And I don’t have the luxury of saying that often because my birthdays always suck. (And it was sucking. Til now.)

Note: My actual birthday is tomorrow, but celebrating it tonight with a bottle of red spanish 2001 reserve Rioja wine: Priceless.

How awesome is that? Happy birthday to my lil guy Diego! ….and to Mr. Mercury

On this very day in 2009, around five in the afternoon, I started having contractions! My son’s second birthday is tomorrow! 

My son’s second birthday is coming up. Last year, his birthday had a Yo Gabba Gabba theme because he absolutely loved that show. Now a days…it kinda just scares the living shit out of him. No complaints there. This year it’s been more about Blues Clues. Of course, for afternoon tv-time, he’s not that picky. Really, he’ll watch anything on Nick Jr that has a lot of music. Shows like Bubble Guppies, Backyardigans, Team Umi Zoomi, maybe Ni Hao Kailan, Dora the Explorer and Go Diego Go, but those last three aren’t really his top choices. But when he’s feeling cranky, tired, or sick, he immediately demands Blues Clues. It’s totally his favorite show. Whenever it comes on, he starts dancing and talking to Steve. (Not Joe. Nobody likes you, Joe. Go away.) 

So, naturally, for this year’s birthday cake theme I wanted it to be Blues Clues. So I went to the bakery section of the commissary (Because they make crazy-yummy cakes, really pretty-looking, and affordable. I could make the cake….but I suck at decorating.) and when I requested a Blues Clues cake, they said they were out of “prints”. Which is bullshit. They can just get an image from the internet and print that off and put it on the damned cake. But they’re being lazy. And since I was rushed at the moment and didn’t wanna make a scene, I just ordered a Backyardigans cake. Which I hope turns out pretty, because if not, I’m going to slap someone. 

Not a happy mama. But it could work. It’s not like Diego will throw a fit because he didn’t get a Blues Clues cake. For him, it’s just a cake with pretty stuff on it that he’ll destroy anyway when he devours it. But…it’s a treat I wanted for him on his special day, you know? I’m disappointed. But he likes the Backyardigans anyway, so I guess we’re ok. Let’s see how the cake turns out. His party is this upcoming Tuesday. His birthday is the 5th of September, but we’re celebrating it a day after. We shall see. 

My birthday is this saturday. 

And I don’t give a shit. I lost interest. Completely. And it kinda bites.
